Hallo All,

As a response on Mark Shears reply about the question: shall we go on with the Brakehorsepower website, I made a small announcement in the Jan/ February issue of Miscellany. To be precise, the MHR-news column! The suggestion Mark did, to make it part of the historic Register, means that it will under the wings of the Morgan Sports Car Club. There is nothing wrong with that from my point of view, but what are the thoughts of the club. On top of that what are your thoughts?

At the moment the maximum number of words that can be use for 1 news column is 2500. The number of registered older Morgans is 1194. Every month I try to give attention to all those kind people who contact me. Sometimes with a reply, sometimes with a new item. Motor sport in general isn't often an subject. Sometimes an announcement that has to do with historical motorsport stories, but that's it. It depends on your ideas and the possibilities the club offers.

Please, let me know your thoughts, Machiel.

Sad to hear all this.
The site was both well set up and highly interesting, particularly to those of us with life long interest in Morgan’s.
I must say I do worry about Morgan sites without the proper controls and general safeguards.
In this day and age unfortunately we do have to worry about who is requesting our information.
Might I suggest something legally and properly backed by the Morgan Company direct to ensure proper compliance.
I have twice before asked to help find a Morgan owners address and other details about his car, and have refused.
Brakehorsepower is a very sound setup which I find I can rely on.

BEWARE OF OTHER SITES REQUESTING personal information!

Seasons greetings.

Sorry to be slow slow to make a contribution to the discussion on the future of BHP - only excuse is that we were in Western Australia for most of November and I tend to log into BHP much more during the race season.

I would personally be very sad to see the demise of BHP. It provides an excellent way of communication between Morgan enthusiasts with a racing bias. I have certainly learnt a lot through the posts on BHP - making occasional contributions.

The WhatsApp group is very useful in its immediacy - someone posts and it pings onto your phone and grabs your attention. But a few days later and that comment is buried by others. On BHP, the posts can be longer and the knowledge stays accessible.

In my opinion, it would be wonderful if both BHP and WhatsApp could thrive and promote each other. It should not be a choice between the two.

BHP may be a bit dated in its style but isn't that the charm of Morgan cars as well? I think BHP needs to be promoted at every opportunity via the MSCC as well as via the Morgan Challenge website.

I pay tribute to those who set up and maintain the BHP forum and had not appreciated it was "privately" funded. Sincere thanks. Surely funding could be obtained from somewhere within the Morgan fraternity - a Morgan dealer, a supplier, Morgan itself or the Challenge. There is space on the top bar for a sponsor name!

Would be a sad day to let the BHP site disappear with all the historic information it contains and can contain going forward. :(

Hallo,

Maybe is it an idea to make it part of the MSCC-website. You can log in with your MSCC membership password.

One has only to take a look at the 'Last Post' on most of the subjects to realise that the Forum is not much used, apart from this thread, few are dated within a month of today's date, and most have been barren for some years.
Unlike some forums BHP has many erudite, insightful, and expert posts, always well thought out and well mannered, that refelects the kind of people who race/drive Morgans (Plus the odd chap who dosen't), losing the facility would be a great shame, however, I am devoid of ideas on the way forward.
I am surprised that the 40th Anniversary did not engender more memories and recollections being posted, a sign of the times I suppose. Remember the Christmas Panto? Where has the fun gone? A little more humour would help, in the eversoe humble opinion of;

Dinosaur's Father.

Dear Dinosaur's Father,

I, too, am mourning the absence of the Christmas Panto (Oh yes I am!). :-({|=

It seems that such simple pleasures have been forgotten or have given way to more modern types of entertainment.

However, I am determined to revive it, even if only for we few remaining relics of a bygone era. \:D/

Christmas Panto:

Jack was driving his favourite Morgan and stopped at a marshals' post where he spied Barry's Yellow Peril stranded at the side of the track.

Barry cunningly tricked him into exchanging his Moggie for the broken Yellow Peril and a few rusty ball bearings from Smudger's random collection of obsolete and useless bits.

Jack thought he had a great deal and when he got home with the broken car and the rusty ball bearings he excitedly told Sally all about it.

Sally responded in the way that she usually did when she received news of Jack's latest scheme:
"YOU MUST BE MAD!!!"

Nothing daunted Jack carefully put the ball bearings in his shed.

The next morning he woke up feeling very excited to look at his new treasures and looked into the shed. To his amazement he saw....

Please feel free to continue this gripping tale....

that overnight the ballbearings had been mixed with some bits of steel from an old crankshaft and lovingly forged into a billet.
Standing on a stump of old Belgian ash so they could reach the anvil were three tiny elves, decked out in their smart blacksmith aprons, (with Castrol, Champion and Morgan logos) wailing away on the billet with their little hammers to draw out a sheet of material that looked like it had the promise of a Morgan cowl.
What was this? Another newly-imagined treasure from the ancient, storied car builder in far-away Malvern, beloved of odd folks the world over?
Only time, and imagination, would tell.

To his amazement The debonair James S had snuck in and reclaimed the yellow peril, bereft of loosing the possibility as to discovering the secrets of the towing cam and demon weber.
The whisky bottle fell off the shelf in sympathy, jack performing a absurd double somersault to catch it, just the bottle met his lips – Sally’s voice rung out – you must be mad.
Suitably chastised bottle retuned to shelf, thus dear Jack was left with rusty ball bearings
Then a new devious plan was hatched

Fifty quid?
Cried Percy Crafter, cowering behind his Big Red One,
I do have some rusty nuts I am unwilling to donate, but only if Dame Mary disports herself in a pair of Hot Pants racing suit
. . This remark was squarely commended by many of the leering onlookers, who drove wooden cars at various locations at Disnay Wold, (Oh! Yes they do!). Meanwhile the Yellow Pearl Harbour Special, was being secretly removed from behind J S's woodpile, and painted to look like a Daffodil, in order to make detection easier. King Kole, whose own wodden wonder was also coloured a similar shade, threatened to sue, Sue, (The Charmman's other (Better) half until tis all resolved.

Mr Summner, I am sure normal service will be resumed shortly.
