Hoping to come back racing! Where to find tyres?

Post by GeorgeMartin »

Good afternoon, did a few sporadic races between 2009-2013. I’m looking to get my car back up and running with a possible race as a guest at the end of the season or next year.

My car is a former Class B car and following a look over the regs I’m trying to work out what I need to change. I’m guessing it’s best to get the car weighed and put on the rolling road first even though it’s probably a bit heavy and underpowered now.

My question is where can I order some tyres from 16”? Is there a preference to the old A048’s or the newer A052’s?

Many thanks,
George.

Hi George, welcome back!
I suggest you have a look at the Challenge website preparers page https://morganchallenge.co.uk/competitiors/ and talk to one of the people listed, it looks like Williams or Richard Thorne are your closest preparers. I am sure they could advise you.
Otherwise contact Chris Thompson, the championship coordinator, who can advise you, email: themorganchallenge@gmail.com

Hi George,

Thanks for joining our WhatsApp group, as Mary suggests you may certainly email me directly with questions, happy to help you get back on track.

https://www.adamsandpage.co.uk/ are the main tyre provider for CSCC as an alternative supply option to a local preparer.

Your Class B (typically Class 2 now) on 16" rims can run upto 225 and most find a either 50 or 55 profile OK depending on availability of stock.

Most cars are now running the A052 as the A048 is no longer road legal and has since become more limited in available sizes.

Louis Ruff at Williams is the Class 2 driver representative if you need some further advice beyond sending me your questions.

Thanks
Chris
