Pomeroy 2013

Post by TonyLees »

It's that time of year again!
The ‘Pom’ is a unique event in which the speed, agility and braking ability of Pre-war and Post-war machines are pitted against each other. Over the course of the event all competitors will take part in handling, acceleration and braking tests, followed by a time trial and a test to make sure their car can carry two ‘standard’ VSCC size suitcases! In addition to the circuit based tests, cars are required to be road legal. Competitors are required to pass through a filter point in order to confirm that they have driven the cars to the circuit.
The car which wins The Pom is always a true all-rounder driven by a great driver, so why not join us?

Basically it's a bit of early season fun and a good 40 minute thrash around the club circuit.
I'm in my Vauxhall 30-98 and will be celebrating the centenary of the model.
A certain John Bevan will be making an appearance in his 4/4.
Forecast is for snow!
Entry free and is "officially" only possible by arriving with a VSCC member as part of their "equipe".

Unless, Tony, you are part of a Member of the Media's entourage!

See you and the Turnip Basher there.

I note a certain lady named Sherry in the entry list and also a James Patterson.
Bob.

Nice to have Kathy along, I'm sure she will be forgiven for driving a BMW!
I haven't managed to fit a luggage rack, so VSCC suitcase will have to go in back seats!

See you there,

PS Kathy and I have to do 32 laps and Tony has to do 23!

James is in a Jag so that's why I missed him ;-)
You had me worried; I checked and I have to do 19 laps not 23!
I don't think putting the suitcases "in the passenger compartment" is allowed so I'd suggest some rear-mounted scaffolding for the suitcases

The Pom was a great spectacle as always with some fabulous machinery in action, there is no result published as yet so we don't know who won, John B, Tony L or Kath S. Bound to have been one of them.

John Bevan found a novel way of keeping cool during his thrash.

Great photos Bob.
Never in the annals of human endeavour has anyone "raced" in snow (and oil) and had so much fun?
I did 21 laps! yippee!
John and Kathy both completed 28!
See you next year.

Well done John, I see that a Morgan is far superior to a Vauxhall or a BMW for touring the continent!

Pictures now on morgan skydrive

Cheers,

John gets the prize for being at S’stone in the snow AND arriving for the mog club dinner that eve. I remember many years ago going to a Brands Boxing day meeting (to spectate !) and it was very snowy – great for the crowds.
