Andy I have just picked up a set of Early carbs + manifold £130. which will go on my spare eng.pre SD1
I have a set of later Su Carbs HIF6 + manifold on my spare eng which has SD1 heads these were running on my eng at the start of the year , But As I wanted to keep the cars eng as it should run the early carbs are good for me

Yes, sounds good to me - will ring you next week (5th July), not going to Mallory but will be at Silverstone at BDC meeting if you are going you could bring them along, thanks.
