Bob Revisited
Bob Revisited
Bob Bull (Edgware Road Club) at speed on the Southend Road.
Demonstrating his versatility Bob shows not only can he ride a bike .... he can carry one as well. Cyclo Cross @ Shirley Hills
As previously requested by a certain member of the forum, I am now able to post evidence of my claim to be (once) an ace cyclist.
I don't care what you say, I have heard it all before!!
Ace Photograp…… you know!

Re: Bob Revisited
I didn't know that Hank Marvin was an Olympic bike carrier.

Mary,
Living quite close to me, as he was, I was often mistaken for the Shads guitarist. I never saw it as complimentary, being a Jerry Lee Lewis fan.

I think he is wearing rather discreet rimless glasses.any way who,s the bloke without glasses in the first picture ??
Looks a bit like Phil Goddard to me.
Re: Bob Revisited
I should have know, I post a picture of a highly trained sportsman, a perfect physical specimen in full flight on a sophisticated piece of machinery competing in that most manly of pursuits, cycle racing, and what do we get? Two bufoons trivialisng that they can not understand.
I do not suppose for one moment they (particularly short sighted Jack) noticed the quick release, Campagnola hubs, the Mavic centre pull racer brakes, the 12 speed Campagnola derailleur gear, and twin handlebar gear levers. All hallmarks of a true professional.
But when they race a canvas seated dustbin for amusement one can understand their bewilderment, and make allowance for it.
In order to clear up any confusion of my stature and standing in the community in the '50's I append one further image, which makes quite plain that I was a man to be taken seriously.

I vaguely recall sitting in the Morgan In Totteridge Lane and Hank walking by and making a complimentary comment.
Bob – did you take a lot of drugs when cycle racing ?

Re: Bob Revisited
Leigh this begs two questions:I vaguely recall sitting in the Morgan In Totteridge Lane and Hank walking by and making a complimentary comment.
1. If you only vaguely recall the incident, does this mean that you and Bob were on the same substance?
2. Was he being complimentary about you, your beard or the Morgan?
