Who’s planning to do what in 2009 ?

I am looking to do le Mans in July for certain at this point and I will investigate the possibility of Monza in June.

Thanks John for putting the calendar together. There is one stonking race to add - the Le Mans 24 Hours support race this year (on 13th June) is for 1949 - 65 cars, run by Duncan Wiltshire of Motor Racing Legends. I plan to do this although probably in the TR2 rather than the Morgan.

As for my Morgan races I plan to enter a few Guards Trophy and Equipe GTS races this year including the Le Mans Bugatti Circuit meeting.

Nothing on the other Motor Racing Legends races yet. Duncan said that the Woodcote Trophy calendar isn't quite firmed up. I suspect that once the Silverstone Classic race programme is settled then it will all fall into place.

You're talking of Jim Lowry of Equipe GTS? I remember you mentioning the fact that FIA papers were not needed for the meeting held on the Bugatti circuit on 4-5 July 2009.

I got rather carried away when Mark mentioned the Legends race on the Le Mans weekend of 14th June. Two reasons exist for my pressing ahead with the FIA HTP application (1) Mark and I struck a deal with the Devil over a beer or two pre-Christmas that we would aim to get both our +4's FIA registered with a view to competing in the more 'sexy' historic stuff to be found around these parts; and (2) FIA papers will be an essential item if I am to try and get an entry for the Legends race on the Le Mans weekend.

Call it a 40th birthday present to myself!

All of a sudden I get the feeling that there is going to be a run on +4 hardtops....

Ps. Food for thought: XOV is the only +4, I know of, that holds FIA papers and is not required to run with a hard top on account of it holding a piece of paper saying it raced in period without one. That being the case shouldn't we be in a position to lay claim that we are doing nothing more than copying XOV? That way we would avoid the requirement to cocoon ourselves in our cars. Personally, I hate the idea of having to put a hardtop on the car.

The Yellow Peril (Andy Garlicks ond car) has FIA Papers and isn't required to run with a hardtop (to my knowledge anyway). This may be due to it being Period E though (1947 to 1961).
Jim Lowry might be able to shed more light on this subject
