Re: 'Moss Box' +8 Race/Rally car for sale
Hi All:
Simon's description stirred fond memories of my first real recollection of Morgans, from 1970.
I was looking to buy a new car that year while living in Calgary, Alberta, where trucks and horses were by far the more familiar transport mode.
But there was a sports car dealer who actually had a new Plus 8, brown of all colours, for $3,500 Cdn, which according to calculations now was about 1,400 pounds.
Sadly, but perhaps not given Alberta winters, I passed on the Morgan and went for ... wait for it: A Spitfire.
Whoa. A Spitfire vs. a Morgan? Only because it was cheaper, $2,500 Cdn, 1,404 GBP at the time.
But that Spitter lasted me 10 faithful years and I finally part=traded it for a '63 Plus Four, which I still have.
So I have my Morgan, and the memories.'
Thanks Simon.
Larry
