Electric vehicles (EVs)

Post by John Clarke »

Before I left for the Southern Hemisphere, I noticed that an increasing number of racers had made the leap into EVs and why not?

With Morgan keeping their EV plans secret (aside from their 3 wheeler EV), I took the plunge and bought a SMART ED..and what a revelation it is. The torque surprised me and a few other road users. The range is admittiedly poor but fine for popping down to the local shops and other essential errands..and the looks we receive....aghast....laughter.....whats that?

With my toe firmly in the water it was time to take the next step so I bought a Jaguar I-Pace. Wow! 400bhp and AWD. I was swayed by watching youtube vids of a Jaguar I-pace being adopted by the Nurburgring taxi/tourist service. Check it out.

New Zealand roads are quite challenging but the nothing like the Nurburgring. I took my Audi S2 around the Ring when visiting Germany for a race meeting. The S2 was quick but nothing like the I-Pace

So new country new life new car.

So c'mon Morgan make the 'Midsummer' electric and my life will be complete.

''I took my Audi S2 around the Ring when visiting Germany for a race meeting.''

Yes I was the passenger / navigator !!

We also drove it round a race circuit before a race to see the layout - they said you could take your road car but not your race car. Ironically your Audi road car was faster than your pre war Mog race car
