Registration no. LAB 188D
Chassis no. 6166
Odometer reading: TBC
MOT: Exempt
*One of only 42 Plus 4 Competition Models made
*The works' development and competition car
*Extensively restored 2009/2010 (new chassis)
Footnotes:
Morgan's Plus 4 Competition Model debuted at the Earls Court Motor Show in October 1965. Only 42 were made, of which 15 were sold in the UK. Only some 11-or-so are known to survive worldwide. This example was retained by the factory and first registered to Mr H Morgan, Morgan Works, Malvern. The factory record card confirms that '6166' was the works' development and competition car used for numerous trials and rallies. Inspection of the history file is recommended.
On 1st December 1969, the Morgan was registered to the second owner, a Mr Richard of Edinburgh, who kept it until his death. The car was rescued and treated to a major restoration in 2009/2010, which included a new replacement chassis frame and full rebuilds of the engine, gearbox, suspension and wheels, while the wiring and brake callipers were renewed. Additionally, the Armstrong Selectaride lever-type rear shock absorbers were replaced with standard units (originals with car) and a new bonnet fitted. It should be noted that the engine specification includes a 'fast road' camshaft; polished/ported cylinder head; and twin Weber carburettors. 'LAB 188D' is featured on the cover and in an eight-page article in Classic & Sports Car magazine's November 2020 edition. Finished in its original colour combination of Dark Crimson with black interior, the car comes complete with its original hood, hood frame, full tonneau and original (un-restored) side screens.

Re: auction 4 sept
Hallo Peter,
Thanks for your very interesting message.
I can't find information about the Auction House, but please, can you help me with that? What's the price indication?
Maybe I can do something with a car like this in the MHR-news/ Miscellany.
All the best, enjoy the coming F1 GP race at Zandvoort,
Machiel.

Hi Machiel,
Just to let you, and others, know the car is now sold.
To a well known Morgan racer and ex: dealer I understand.
Cheers,
Mark
