There were two races, one on Saturday morning and one on Sunday morning - each 30 minutes.
They were really exciting at the front (AC Cobras dicing for the lead) but more interesting further back. On Saturday Billy was really flying in the pre-crossflow 4/4 leading the class (from the Sumpter Porsche 911) and looking to harry the E-Types and Mustangs, Simon was in third just holding off another 911 driven by Ziser (from Germany I think).
Sunday was very much repeat performance, Billy looked even quicker. Simon got jumped at the start by Ziser's 911 and had to chase just a second or so behind, we were willing him on from the Pit wall and he got his reward within a couple of laps of the finish when the 911 cooked its brakes (boiled the fluid) and overshot a corner at the back of the circuit. Simon raced through and although the Porsche recovered the result was done !
Overall results were a composite of Races 1 and 2;
1st in Class - Billy Bellinger Morgan 4/4 pre-crossflow
2nd in Class - Mark Sumpter Porsche 911
3rd in Class - Simon OG Morgan +4 SLR
4th in Class - Guy Ziser Porsche 911
5th in Class - Colin Paton Porsche 911
It very much reminded me of the Morgan/Porsche Challenge races that I helped Mary Lindsay organise in the late 1970s. The F1 Race - No idea
Thanks to Kate and Simon Orebi Gann for inviting us to help, and to Simon and Billy for the on-track entertainment.
A couple of pictures below, none of the on-track action though as I was busy with timing and the Pit board at the time.
We had Fun
