Le Mans Morgans Back to the Sarthe 2018
Great news.....I've just heard from Simon that all three Series 1 Le Mans Morgans have been accepted into this years Le Mans Classic. Quite fitting really as it is 80 years since Prudence Fawcett and Anthony White first entered (and finished) in BNP 370 (ne FXD 280).
The cars will be driven (left to right) by Simon and Phil, Leigh and Peter, the Goddards - Sharlie and Phil and Smith.
The provisional entry list is here
http://www.lemansclassic.com/wp-content ... -entry.pdf
This will be the first time that these three old stagers have competed at La Sarthe together.
Happy days.

It could be an opportunity to meander back to Blighty from Spa via La Sarthe.
Bon chance.

LMC is getting closer and preparations are (should be) well underway.
I came across this the other day, a collage from yesteryear (2008?).
Photos by various people, but not me
Me thinks the drivers were Plant, Lees and Sebba, I was relegated to holding the bonnet! We were racing my (now the Goddards) series 1 soon to return to Le Mans for the 5th time.
cheers

Re: Le Mans Morgans Back to the Sarthe 2018
The Morgans have arrived at the Sarthe and are tucked up in their paddock.
Simon's "Fawcett/White" Le Mans Mog, Leigh's actual 38/39 Le Mans Mog, the Goddards "White/Anthony" Le Mans Mog
You can follow the live stream of the race here
http://www.lemansclassic.com/language/e ... ing-video/
Simon is car number 40 (of course), Leigh is number 42 and the Goddards 66 (can they repeat the success of team 66 in 2008?)
Qually today (Friday) at 13.45pm and 22.29pm. These may not be streamed, we'll have to wait and see.
Good luck boys (and Sharlie).
cheers

Day and night practice/qualification successfully completed by all cars. Leigh reports heat maybe affecting smooth running of some cars.
Results for day and night sessions were - Simon (car 40) 46th and 42nd; Leigh (car 42) 54th and 55th, Goddards (car 66) 60th and 58th.
The full results can be found here where you can also follow the cars live lap by lap

Re: Le Mans Morgans Back to the Sarthe 2018
Great day and night racing from the three teams.
Simon has done the maximum laps possible by a 1098cc Morgan and is leading the way on scratch and handicap. Simon was 8th on handicap after the first race and 11th during the night.
Thanks for the photo Simon - doesn't she look stunning?
Leigh was less fortunate with FXD running a bit rough, then he was overtaken at night by the leader at the chequered flag robbing him of a lap. This left Leigh 3 laps behind the Simon and 2 behind the Goddards.
One race to go..

Re: Le Mans Morgans Back to the Sarthe 2018
The final results are in after the last race was cut short due to oil on the track.
Simon and Phillip finished a brilliant 7th overall on handicap after completing 16 laps and taking the chequered flag in 33rd place overall.
The Goddards, Phil and Sharlie, completed 15 laps finishing 37th overall and 21st on handicap.
and Leigh and Peter completed 13 laps finishing 44th on scratch and 41st on handicap,
Beers all round!
I reckon Simon was the 1st under 1100cc car home on handicap and 2nd overall behind a Singer Le Mans. A huge achievement.

Re: Le Mans Morgans Back to the Sarthe 2018
Difficult to be sure watching on a computer screen, but it looked as if Leigh made a 'Moss style' Le Mans start getting away probably first out of the blocks. If true … has he been doing some secret training?
Ace Photograp…… you know!

Re: Le Mans Morgans Back to the Sarthe 2018
Thanks for all that support from Perth (Oz) and BHP. The pic of me doesn’t show it clearly – but I was wearing my beret and Allez Les Bleus shirt (1998 Paris final) in support of the French on the Friday.
Pre war car had all sorts of mysterious engine problems but the +4 went well in a ‘lively’ grid – including Gull Wing Mercs spitting flames from the side as they pass
