Adding an image to a post

You can display images in your posts, but the image you display must be available on the internet (it cannot exist only on your computer for example, unless you run a webserver!).

Upload the image to a free photo hosting site like Picasa Web Albums or Photobucket. Then, in that site, go to the image you want to display and copy the web address (the URL) starting http://...

When you post on bhp, just surround the URL pointing to the image with "img" tags (highlight the URL and click on the IMG button is simplest).


For example:

You can also wrap an image in a "url" tag if you wish also to create a link, e.g.

would generate:


Bear in mind that the larger the image file, the longer it will take to download (which can slow the board down considerably for those with a slow connection). A good size for images is about 750 pixels wide, which will accomodate most sizes of screen.

Whatever you do, always check your posting using the Preview button to see that the links and images work properly before posting.

Please can someone provide up to date information on the easiest way to display images on brakehorsepower?
Picasa is unsupported and Photobucket doesn't seem to exist...
I spotted a 1974 Morgan 4/4 complete with rollbar in a Greek museum and wanted to share...

Simon, I wish I could help, since Picasa stopped allowing URL's (?) or whatever they are called, I have been unable to find a method. The Ten tenths site makes it easy to post images from one's own computer, but that is of little help here. I will try again to find a way and let you know if I succeed.

I had Bob, my first for many a moon. But to no avail.
Remembering your previous post concerning the well-respected oooop northerner Mr. P Rafter Esq., about cloth caps, I tried to add the image of the e-mail I had from the Goodwood Road Racing Club concerning such attire in the Paddocks, as I was refused entry one year for not wearing a tie- I just went to another gate- it says-' To help us maintain the high standards within the Enclosure and Central Paddocks we ask for your full support- jacket and tie or cravat with smart trousers for men, (unless in drivers' or mechanics' overalls or other period dress)'. Mr. P Rafter, therefore, would be most welcomed in the paddocks. My overalls, at the time, were resplendent facsimiles with the BP and the Morgan ones requiring the use of a cloth cap! My Ferrari overalls, copied from those in the 1950s, required the use of a beret, also quite acceptable.
