New Book Celebrates 75th Anniversary of Morgan’s First
Race at Le Mans
In 1938 Morgan appeared on the world stage, competing at the famous 24 Hour race at Le Mans against the best sports cars of the day driven by the best international drivers. Two enthusiastic amateurs, Prudence Fawcett, a pretty young society lady and Geoff White from the Winter Garden Garages brought the Morgan home to 13th place overall having covered 1,350 miles. This year marks their 75th anniversary.
Drawing from private collections of photographs, this 240 page, hardback book is printed on high quality gloss paper and contains over 250 images, many of which have never been published before. The book tells the story of Morgan’s adventures in international motorsport before the war in particular the RAC Tourist Trophy races in 1937 and 1938 and at Le Mans in 1938 and 1939. The book also provides extensive biographies of the Morgan competitors including Henry Laird, Prudence Fawcett, Dick Anthony, Geoff White and Lance Prideaux-Brune.
