Wet At Silverstone
Wet At Silverstone
At a very wet Silverstone for the Britcar 24 hour race, the Morgan of Keith Ahlers and the Bock brothers finished in 37th. place and 18th in class, not bad for a rather old Plus 8 up against class rivals such as BMW M3, Ginetta, Aston Martin, Porsche GT3 etc.
Slick management by Billy Bellinger and his team contributed to the result, with Jack (who was REALLY in Charge) acting as Chief Mechanic, with Rutter, Father and Son, James Gateson, Peter, and various other crew members executing some slick work at the pit stops to add to the driving of Keith, Michael and Christian.
Despite a lot of Media attention, there was virtually nothing in the way of hospitality, one cup of tea, so obviously the budget was spent on personnel!!
Well done to all concerned, it might not have the glamour of Spa, but we had just as much rain.
Pictures on the usual site.

Re: Wet At Silverstone
There are so many questions I could ask about this description of me..............( oe even blessed mary)
I have been informed about the article but have yet to lay hands on a copy of Motor Sport. I also understand that Octane magazine are going to publish something about the race.
Re: Wet At Silverstone
Here we go again! Another case of a subject being highjacked to try and gain some spurious attention for an event so obscure as to be hardly worth a mention in it's own right.peter rafter wrote:article on 2CV 24 hrs?
Let's stick to the topic, shall we?
Keith Ahlers, Michael and Christian Block, backed by a superb bunch of people in the pits finished ahead of a number of faster cars, due to good consistent lappery, splendid pit work and a reliable motor car, all of which was recorded in some magnificent photographic work, and beautifully crafted radio interviews.
Please ensure that any further contributions are relevant to the subject matter, or start your own thread - 2CV's indeed! Bah!!
One who was there (for a while anyway)

Dear me Bob, you are getting a bit hot under the collar aren't you?
I quite agree that Keith and his superb team deserve many plaudits.
But don't be so dismissive of the 2CV race just because you were unable to achieve this sort of coverage for your journalistic efforts......

I do apologise if this is an inappropriate thread in which to ask this question but have you sold any tennis rackets lately?

Re: Wet At Silverstone
Yet another blatant example of a 2CV obsessive's, self aggrandisement! Despite my perfectly well mannered criticism of their intrusion into my paean of praise for a proud Morgan moment in history, the Blinking Mary manages to sneak in several links to a farcial Francophile, fiesta, featuring foreign,flip-top,fog bound voiturettes.Mary Lindsay wrote:this sort of coverage
Tennis Rackets, are but another red herring.
Come on Jack! Where are you when I need support?

Oh dear Bob, I think you need to go and have a rest in a darkened room. Have you taken your medication today?
Of course you are right, just go and have a little rest and it will all be OK in the morning.

Tell us Mary!
What did the Queen write on your birthday card this year? I ask because at some time in the distant future I too might receive such a missive.
Young Bob.

SMALL, Jack? I don't think so! You are nothing if not a BIG COG! At least I think that is what Sally said.jack bellinger wrote:Having been a small cog
Anyway I must congratulate you on guiding the Morgan team so admirably in the 24 Hour Race, your quiet demeanour and unruffled exterior, lent an air of calm to those well drilled pit stops, that added so much the overall result.
I particularly liked the manner in which you let Billy beleive that he was running things, he was like a child at Christmas with a new toy, while your unflustered direction kept everything under control.
Never once did I see signs of panic, even with darkness falling, the need to mend a headlight caused no concern to the team.
WELL DONE JACK!
Bob the Nice One.
