Bob, coach to the hoi polloi,
Schumi still learning and working----there was an interesting article in a german newspaper recently over the problems "schumi" was having with his mercedes car and how he is having to adapt his style. The mercedes as a consequence of its design and build to the new regulations has in-built understeer (this particular mercedes under braking too much over the front wheels and too little weight over the back wheels) ------ he doesnt like this (possibly from having come thru the kart ranks?) and was hoping to work with the engineers on the front aerofoils.....
on this a race engineer, they who are forever seeking a neutral balance, had summarised it as to " understeer is when you head into the crash barrier forwards, oversteer is when you go backwards into the barrier"

On the endless changing regs he is unhappy, he likened a F1 car to a dance at the extreme limit, --the best time for him was when everything was allowed, ABS, active suspension , traction control- so the car is at the maximum and can go as fast as technically possible. On testing , in 2004 over 39 days he tested 10000kms plus, ... which reminds me , i must book half an hour at snetterton be4 the season starts

regards
peter

The official opening of the new track takes place on April 29th (I've been invited), and will be used for the first time on the following weekend for the 'Silverstone Supercar' meeting featuring the FIA GT1 World Championship series. Your first chance to check out the new layout.

See you there?

Bob.
