Tyres - Yoko, Toyo etc

I'm considering some new tyres for the Aero when we move to Portugal.

As it is mostly dry weather and I will have a new business based at a race track it seems to make sense to have some track day orientated tyres that can be used on the road as well.

Main choice appears to be either Yokohama A048 or Toyo R888.

I think the race boys use the Yoko's and wondered what you thought of them on track and on road?

Anyone had back to back experience with the Toyo as well?

Any other recommendations e.g. Pirelli, Avon, Dunlop or Michelin?

I use my Plus 8 on the road and it's shod with A048s (medium compound). Fine in the dry but not that good in the wet, and they don't deal with standing water at all well.

If I wanted a tyre that was used mainly on the road, with an occasional track day, then I wouldn't go for the 048 - but for a better, more universal road tyre like the Goodyear Eagle F1s.

Hi Phil,

I have Bridgestone RE040's on my MR2, and there great on the track and give good milage and ride on the road.

Guys on the MR2 forum recon there better than the Toyos, but can't say myself as I havn't run them.
