Hi All:
I have been devouring The LawrenceTune Years and am now on my second read. What a monumental work and thanks to all who were involved. I am interested to know what original Lawrence tuned cars are still being raced and by whom. Who do I look for in the various videos and the Morgan Challenge?
Thanks, Larry

Hi Larry,
There are only three still racing that I can immediately think of...
TOK 258 owned by Keith Ahlers.
PGP 123 'Choc Ices' owned by Kevin Kivlochlan
XRX 1 owned by Dion Kremer (this car has not been raced for some years now.)
Can you suggest any more...?
Cheers,
Mark

Dear All,
Next year, the 18th of July, we celebrate 10 years Morgan Historic Register. I know it's very early, but from this place, I like to invite you to be part of this event. Location: Morgan Motor Company. We like to bring as many as possible older Morgans to this place. 4/4's, +4's and +8's. All with carburetors fitted when the left the factory. For more information, see the updates every month in the MHR-news column in Miscellany.
Do you know were I can find the email addresses from Kevin Kivlochlan and Dion Kremer?
Thanks a lot, Machiel Kalf.

Hi Andy,
Hope you are well and look forward to seeing you again soon.
Dion was racing in The Gentleman Drivers Pre 66 Race which was one of the support races to the Six Hours.
It looks like he had a fantastic close race against Simon Orebi Gann in his Plus 4 and the results show that Simon was 20th and Dion 21st - both in Morgan Plus 4 Supersports...
Cheers,
Mark

Hallo Mark,
Are you sure the +4 Super Sports are real Super Sports?
Machiel.

My apologies, Dion Kremer was VERY busy at Spa and XRX 1 was indeed battling with Orebi Gann/Lockie - another very close race 0.275 secs - but the race was today and in my defence "I posted from last night's Results M'lud" Thanks for the corrections guys.
Have/Had Fun
Andy

I’ve only just seen this post….
There are another two genuine Plus 4 Super Sports that are still Racing.
1963 colour green 208 FOJ which has a long term owner and has raced extensively this year including trips to race in Portugal and Scilly
1961 colour light blue 5266 MM which hasn’t been seen racing in the UK for some years but has period international and Goodwood history but will make an appearance in 2025
Both high line cars.

Hallo Richard,
Of course, I know, it's a long going discussion: what's a real Super Sports? Please, read the pages 42 and 43 of the June issue of Miscellany of this year.
Jake Alderson is a well respected historian.
Jake Alderson explains exactly where the term Super Sports comes from and where it stands for. I know your need an eye glass to read but check the text of the 2 adverts on page 43. One is from 1962 and the other one from April 1963.
The one from 1963 shows the +4 Super Sports model: 2 seater, low line, aluminium body, LT-engine, 2 sets of 42 DCEO Webers, special LT-inlet manifold and 4 branches exhaust manifold.
Sorry, ........... but it is what it is, Machiel.
PS. Do you have time to pop over to Holland? I am 100% sure you are surprised what I can show you.

On Saturday December 31st 1960 at The Racing Car Show at the Royal Horticultural Old Halls in London Chris Lawrence had a stand for Westerham Motors Ltd.
Amongst other engines he displayed a TR3 engine "as supplied to the Morgan Motor Company for the Super Sports Plus Four."
Just saying...!
Cheers,
Mark

Hi Mark,
You are absolute right. But that is the text made by a journalist. A journalist who based that on his own thoughts: Ah, it's a Plus 4 with a tuned engine: That must be a Super Sports! From that moment on it all went wrong with that. Did you see the text in the original MMC adverts?
Thanks for your response, Machiel.

Hallo Marc,
Later I realise myself that it is what you wrote: it was a Stand of Westerham. The MMC had nothing to do with it. Maybe CJL called it a "Super Sports".
Please, read the text of the MMC adverts.
All the very best, Machiel.
