This was before even my photographic career started.

I remember that incident very well and still marvel at how they all avoided me! It was at Cadwell Park in the last race of the 1985 season. John was standing on the embankment watching it all unfold….

I blamed it on Jack who distracted me by clashing with Andy Garlick on the approach to the Hairpin! [-X

I have a copy of that photo hanging up on my wall but have mislaid the press cutting. If anyone out there has one I would be grateful for a copy.

It is one of the few occasions when I have had my photo in the motoring press, not one of my best moments. #-o

Look no further gentle maiden, the photo is a scan from the original Autosport, and I intend bringing it to Snet on Saturday, along with several other copies of the mag from 1985 containing mention of Morgans, and includes a photo showing you in a better light. I thought you might like them for the archives.

Faithful retainer,

Bobby Boy.

Oh how you spoil me Bobby!

Sadly I won't be at Snetterton on Saturday so will miss the delight of meeting up with you. :(

Might I impose on you to post it to me please? [-o<

I reckon it was all caused by that bloke in the Sierra, out for a Sunday afternoon drive, spotted a bit of Armco and thought: " That's a nice grassy bit of central reservation - perfect place to have our picnic!"

On second thoughts Mary, perhaps you saw a photo opportunity to get your car sideways-on to the camera, and show off your Number 1 status !! ??

Tim

PS: See you all at VSCC Silverstone.

Tim, the bloke in the Sierra was the Clerk of the course parked on the long circuit. He said he was worried when he saw me put my hand out to fend-off from the earth bank…. Luckily I couldn't reach that far.

You have seen through my unsubtle attempts at self promotion!

Mary!!! Post it????? Think of the cost!! You have waited 33 years for a copy can you not wait until Silverstone? (VSCC) I have seven Autosports all containing mention of Morgan racing in 1985 plus a copy of Motor Sport with a picture of a Morgan from 1980. I know you live 'far from the madding crowd' but is there anyone who might be able to deliver these treasures to you, if you will not be at Silverstone?

The August 12th. copy of the Autosport has a Morgan on the front cover, must be worth a fortune to the right person. :)

Please advise soonest.

This report; "Main interest in the race was a superb scrap for fourth place between the B Class cars of Mary Lindsay, Leigh Sebba, Andy Garlick and David Haith. The four finished in that order".

On he same page we have the Broadbent Lerner Trophy for Morgans at Snetterton mentioning, amongst others, Barry Sumner and Jack Bellinger.

Dearest Bobby,

I am not sure who has entered from the wilds of Essex/Suffolk but if you identify such a person please do hand over your precious cuttings at Snetterton. I am not sure what my first event will be at present.

How times have changed! It was a lot of fun and most of the cars were driven to the circuit then.

Mary just to be precise, I have the actual magazines not cuttings which, I could easily post, but it seems a shame to be cutting up items of history. As it seems our paths may not cross for a while, and assuming there is no one from Darkest Essex available I will post the two mags mentioned.

Love,

Boby.

Golly – scrapping for fourth place. Those were the days.

Paul Bryan is entered and he could give it to me and I can pass it on to Mary.
(I am having to give it a miss)

Or Vic Champness will be spectating and he will be seeing Mary next week ? Mary if you want to follow this line ask Vic to look for Bob
