Will we have the pleasure of your company - and camera this weekend Bob at MG Live at Silverstone?
It looks like a very good meeting as not only is it a round of The Morgan Challenge on Sunday but there is also a 2 driver Pre-65 Sports car race for British GT cars of the period on Saturday.
Roger Whiteside is in a 4/4, Simon Orebi Gann is in his SLR and Philip and I are in our Plus 4 (the Red car.) Then there are all the usual MGBs plus Healey 3000s, TVRs and the odd Marcos,Warwick and Jowett Jupiter. Right up your street!
See you there?
Cheers
Mark

Andy,
Thank's for your greeting, very kind of you to remember, and no! You do not owe me any money, but that really is you so far in front that I could not get the second place man in shot, even before cropping! Did you jump the start?
Is all well with the car?
Kind regards,
Bob.
PS: Don't tell anyone that you got a free picture, it would only make them jealous.

Bob
Driver error on lap 4 of the Morgan race while chasing Ray Higgs
Spun at the second part (left hander) in the new arena section and stalled the car, which would not then start due to the heat soak so pushed to a place of safety
Spent the rest of the race with the very nice marshalls who provided a bottle of cold water!(to drink)
After the flag they push started the car and all 3 fell over as I roared off, would have gone back to say thanks but the post located inside the circuit
Marshalls view is that the new section is ok for formulae cars but too slow for sports cars, the post had an "e bay section" of various carbon GT parts from the previous week!

Lucky for you that Chris and I were at the complex with our cameras - then! We love pictures of people getting it wrong, but no one did where we were B*****!!!

Bob - great pictures as ever (even if you don't think some of them are up to your usual high standard!)
Thank you for mine - and for the photos of the red car you have posted. Shame you couldn't have photographed Philip and I with our cup but nobody was more surprised than us to receive one (each!)
Have to say I agree with Andy and his new found marshall friends that the new Arena (twisty) bit is not sports car friendly - and certainly not Moss gearbox friendly!
Can we start a petition to bring back Bridge - if only for historics, saloons and sports cars?
Cheers,
Mark

Thank you Mark for your kind comments, much appreciated, perhaps you could bring your trophies to the BDC and we can do the honours!
If there was an award for 'Sartorial Elegance', I am sure that Philip would be a hot favourite (no pun intended), while the wooden spoon would certainly go to Peter Rafter, who appears to own little in the way of clothing, let alone anything remotely resembling respectable. I suppose that his outward persona reflects his rough Northern interior.
Mind you even I (yes even me!) came in for some rather personal remarks from one individual. There I was indulging in a conversation with Simon Baines when up steps some strange fellow, who demands to know; "Are you Bob Bull?" Unfortunately before I could deny all knowledge of the said Bob Bull, Simon immediately identified me. What made him think I was Bob Bull I asked. "Because of the shirt", he replied, "Do you always wear blue shirts?"
What a cheek, he clearly had no idea of my standing and influence in motor racing circles. However, I can take some comfort from the fact that he noticed that I wore a similar coloured garment the previous day, which means I was of sufficient standing for him to remember what I wore 24 hours earlier!!
I was also struck by the absence of Jack and Billy Bellinger, maybe they had something else to do that weekend, but even so, you might have thought they would have their priorities sorted out.
It was also very nice to Kelvin back in action, as I had not seen him since his disastrous Pom in 2010, and to meet a few new, to me, faces. Hi Greg, Bob, I hope you like the photo's. Barry, I trust that the lads are pleased with their images, would you like me to bring some copies to the BDC for them? (Has this man no shame?)
Thank's Chris for your company, and for helping out with my packed lunch!!
In fact thank you to all the Morgan Mob, for taking me into your family, and making me welcome. I've never had so many friends.
Regards,
Bob.
PS: Don't worry about the personal remarks, Peter can take it!

I'd also like to thank Bob for his terrific generosity and applaud his strange liking for Morgans and Morgan people, despite their odd apparel (or perhaps because of it). Great photos too, which I cannot hope to emulate, but for what it's worth I have posted a few other Morgan pics at
https://picasaweb.google.com/Morgan.Challenge (there are larger versions available if anyone wants them).

Well Chris the truth is that;
MGs rejected me,
Ferraris just laughed,
Jaguars, scoffed,
Aston's thought me too common,
AC's spurned my advances,
Bentley's were appalled,
Austin-Healey said I was too posh for them,
Triumph turned their back,
So in the end it was .................................... unlucky for you lot!

BOB,
on the occasion of our anniversary, I asked my wife whether it was fate or accident that we had met many years ago
however, she replied "bad luck!"

MEN DO REMEMBER
ANNIVERSARIES
A woman awakes during the night
to find that her husband
was not in their bed.
She puts on her dressing gown and goes downstairs to look for him..
She finds him sitting at the kitchen table with a hot cup of coffee in front of him. He appears to be in deep thought, just staring at the wall.
She watches as he wipes a tear from his eye and takes a sip of his coffee.
'What's the matter, dear?' she whispers as she steps into the room, 'Why are you down here at this time of night?'
The husband looks up from his coffee,
'I am just remembering when we first met 20 years ago and started dating. You were only 16. Do you remember back then?' he says solemnly.
The wife is touched to tears thinking that her husband is so caring, so sensitive.
'Yes, I do' she replies.
The husband pauses. The words were not coming easily..
'Do you remember when your father caught us in the back seat of my car?'
'Yes, I remember!' said the wife, lowering herself into a chair beside him.
The husband continues. 'Do you remember when he shoved the shotgun in my face and said, 'Either you marry my daughter, or I will send you to jail for 20 years?'
'I remember that too' she replies softly.
He wipes another tear from his cheek and says...
'I would have been released today. '

Mary,
I was passing through a cemetery recently when I noticed a man slumped over a grave, he was weeping and muttering, a picture of grief. I felt compelled to try and comfort him, so I said; " I'm sorry for your loss, was it your wife?"
He looked up, tears streaming down his cheeks and replied; "No, it was her first husband."
I will keep trying.....................
your patience!
Love,
Bob
