1938 4 seater “Le Mans” EVR804
I see in Miscellany that EVR804 is being offered for sale. This car had a 4 page feature in Classic Cars magazine in February 1990.
1938 order specification:
4 seater, black, aluminium spoked disc wheels, large tonneau cover, cycle type wings, outside exhaust system, tuned engine, downdraft carburettor, rev counter, sloping tail, compression ratio 7.5 to 1
The original buff logbook describes the car as a 4/4 Le Mans
I have been fortunate to be allowed to take approximately 500 detailed photos of this car by Peter Carter over the last 9 years, with the exception of a refinish of the paintwork on the dynamo casing, spark plugs, and a replacement battery this car is 99.9% original to prewar condition. All original parts are with the car (Factory literature, KLG 831 spark plugs, Newton front dampers, &c), it is a gem. I hope that the new custodian is as careful to maintain (and cherish) probably the best example of a pre-war Series 1 in existence.
Regards
Bill

Nice full page ad in March Classic & Sports Car.
Price reduced to £65k....well, in dealer marketing speak, £64,990.....and they've blackened the tyres in the price!
Still a lovely car (and no I am not on commission!!)
Can someone please save her for the nation?
cheers

Hi there,
Found the following images of the bonnet mascot of the 1938 DHC in some publicity photos, very similar in profile and design.

Bill

Hi Bill,
Thought you would be interested the to know the new owner of EVR is delighted with his purchase and says it is a lovely thing.
Most important he plans to keep it exactly as it is.
Cheers
Mark
