I am looking for some reasonable condition 17 inch 'Easyclean' wheels as fitted to Series 1 Morgans. Preferably to buy but alternatively if your Series 1 is 'off the road' then perhaps to 'borrow' to get mine 'on the track'

Re: Parts Wanted for Series 1
I have a bent one if that's any help - it's the current spare.
I could remove all the wheels on mine as it's such a good cause
I found one at a TWC spares meeting once!

it might be worth giving Roger at Harpers a bell, bit of a long shot but he bought up a lot of old stock from Dougies when they sold up.
or Terry Foxen, he's got tons of old stuff
or Edgar Wallace in Reading, I went there a few times last your and he has more old Morgan parts than Beaulieu auto jumble, I've got his number if you want it.

Re: Parts Wanted for Series 1
I was always led to believe that the Easi Cleans were virtually unique to Morgans - Tony mentioned that his research had identified a milk float that shared the same back axle and wheels
were they

or perhaps
http://www.localhistory.scit.wlv.ac.uk/ ... unbeam.htm
Chances of finding one of these, I would have thought, is not too great!!!

Hi Tim
I am intrigued by your 16 inch Easi Cleans. Terry Foxon mentioned that there was an Easi Clean made in 16 inch rather than 17 inch. Can you post any more details - were the 16 inch Easi Cleans fitted to Morgans as an option? Were they standard on some models? I can't find any reference to them in my Morgan books....only the 16 inch plain wheels fitted to coupes.
Thanks
john

Re: Parts Wanted for Series 1
Yes but my research was, err, in 1981! As far as I can recall the milk float was a pre-war Lewis-Electric Rida-Pram (sp)? but google fails to find it so my grey matter must be more mushy than ever. It had the same moss axle as the Morgan. The technical director of that time at united dairies was very helpful and provided copies of drawings for crown wheels and pinions. I had 20 sets made by BASAND Ltd, advertised them in Miscellany and shipped them all over the world without any up-front payment. I was a naive 21 years old then. Everyone paid! Happy days.John Clarke wrote:I was always led to believe that the Easi Cleans were virtually unique to Morgans - Tony mentioned that his research had identified a milk float that shared the same back axle and wheels

Dear John
re 16 inch wheels they have the same stud pattern and off set as per 17`` are stamped Dunlop i have had one sat next to one of your wheels when at Techniques and just looks like a more condensed version
they came to me with a set of 6 16inch plain wheel and some 16 inch dunlops drilled pattern i was under the impresion that the factory had a few sets of 16 inch easy cleans made when first assessing which ones to use
as you now the gearing is tall with 17 inch wheels and the gaps in the gears show when you try to push on abit
ive said leigh could borow them if needed if you want to pm me please do

Re: Parts Wanted for Series 1
Hi Tim
Fascinating stuff - I wonder how many are hidden away in the back of dusty garages?? As you say it would certainly help to sort out the awful gearing. The 17inch wheels are 4.5inches wide but that is not such a problem as to use the 16" wheels, new tyres would have to be sourced anyway. Narrower rims and tyres would create more sliding fun!!!
For now, I have a good set of racing tyres that I need to see out (they are hugely expensive) and the car is there or there abouts with all the Riley Brooklands.....but for the future, it would be good to see what difference they make.
.....and I thought the 16 inch Easi Clean was a myth.....
thanks

The awful gearing is quite handy at LeMans along that straight bit

maybe you can persuade the seller to let these go...? Or trade them for the original wheels that this car needs?

Re: Parts Wanted for Series 1
Well spotted Jochem. I bet it drives a bit weird with an Easy Clean and a +4 wheel on the front axle each with a different tyre!!
Why the seller doesn't put the spare on the front axle I can't fathom. To be a bit picky, it's not a coupe but that could be a language thing and its a shame its lost its original instruments!!
Leigh, if you are reading this - this might be one for you to follow up??

Re: Parts Wanted for Series 1
I'm sure Bob will be delighted to see some activity in this section but that of course is not the main reason for this post. Has anyone got a muff coupling for a series 1 (climax engine / meadows gearbox) that might be available to go to a new home? I have the shaft but that's it. Many thanks,
Simon
