BODY FOR SALE!

No Bob or Tony, not what you are thinking!

This is a lightweight, fibreglass competition body suitable for a 1960's Plus Four or 60's/70's 4/4 as it is a lowline bodystyle.

It is new and unused and was kept as a spare by a hillclimber. The last price I have from Dave Rutherford is July 2003 and it was then listed at £846.00 - complete with doors!

This too is complete with doors but what is it worth?

If anyone is interesed make me an offer (of a monetary kind!)

Cheers

Mark

Would create a certain winner of Techniques Trophy but not really in the spirit of Morgan racing.

And that was the trouble with the lightweight fibreglass cars - they went too fast (and weren't really 'factory spec' Morgans) so were banned from most racing.

I recall various names who ran them - Chris Cook (with Rob Wells ), Dave Rutherford, Alan Kennedy.

Maybe more attractive for hillclimb / sprint car

Jonathon - thanks for advice.

Leigh - I remember seeing some years ago a complete lightweight 4/4 in 'original',unrestored condition at Andy Simms 'Four Elms' in Wedmore, Somerset. (I bought my Black car off Andy - in many big pieces!)

It had in its day been a very successful Sprint and Hillclimb car in the South West region. I can't now remember who it had belonged to but he told me car and driver had been well known. I remember it also had trick suspension and mounting points. There was no engine or gearbox in it and it was looking decidedly sad.

Coincidentally 'my' body has also come from the south west area and I was told it was bought as a spare many years ago by a guy who hillclimbed a 'racing' Morgan 4/4 .(The little rural garage prepares 2 Pilbeams and a brutal V8 engined Westfield for Hillclimbing!)

The plot thickens...!

Cheers

Mark

Hi Mark and all,
I bought that decidedly sad fibreglass bodied car which I spent some years rebuilding and now run in Speedmog. The car is the 69 4/4 competition car Andy competed in early on (his first Morgan) and I believe the donor for Dave Rutherfords fibreglass buck. It passed through Tony Morgan-Tipp and one other before getting to me in boxes.
No immediate need for the spare body unless you just want rid.

Thank you Mike - I like it when a story has a happy ending! Spare body here then if you ever need it! Indirectly it sounds as if it is yours anyway!

Cheers

Mark,
It is a matter of grave concern that nobody seems willing to undertake the disposal of your spare body, I fear that your add, like mine for a massive aero circulator, will be buried in the trivia that is intered on this site. Perhaps you should lay it to rest, unless you can resurrect interest by eulogising it virtues again before it passes on to some graveyard for unwanted items, entombed forever in a mausoleum of lost hope. I appreciate that it is a hell of a thing to contemplate, but heavens Man! There comes a time when we have to see the death of our dreams, and try to reconcile ourselves to a tragic loss.

In symapthy,

Bob.

Just to say I have sold my body!

I was offered cash and couldn't resist taking it.

Well, what's a poor boy to do?! Times are hard and Christmas is around the corner...
