Hello Everyone
Further to the squabbling Bob Bull & Mark Sheard on the Donington posts about Jim Clark videos, did anyone see a tremendous 1 hour programme about Jim Clark at 7-00pm on Sat 18th April on BBC4. Tremendous old footage of what must be regarded as one of the greatest of all time.
The previous Sat in same slot was a 90 min prog about Jackie Stewart. This coming Sat features Graham Hill. If it is as good as the previous two progs it will be well worth watching.

Re: Jim Clark
No, didn't know about them.
I was about to respond with a minor rant that these programmes are not publicised and are lost in the depths of programming hell, when I realised that they are probably still viewable using the BBC iPlayer.
The Jim Clark episode is here.
The Jackie Stewart episode is no longer available apparently - info here.
(the wonders of modern technology)
Thanks, Dave.

I won't squabble with you, I saw (and recorded) the 'Quiet Champion' and would agree that it was a first class item and well worth watching even for people like me who do not rate him as highly as many do.
I would imagine that the Graham Hill piece will probably the more entertaining of the two simply because of the difference in character between them, Jimmy was very much the introvert compared with Graham's very extrovert persona. Just in case you missed the point of Mark and I squabbling, I have just sent him a DVD on JC which I obtained form a local garden centre for £4.99, no doubt Mark will let us all know what he thinks of it in due course, as it may be of interest to other members. Bases on other DVD in the series it should be good value for money.
I hope that we are not keeping you awake at night with our squabbling.
Kind regards,
Bob.

Bob & Mark
Of course you are not - yawn- keeping me awake - yawn - at night with your sqabbling.
Apologies for getting Mark Shares surname wrong.
Suprised you are unable to accept Jim Clark as being the supreme practicioner of the driving art that he undoubtedly was. I know we can all argue that drivers of different eras cannot be compared, i.e. was Nuvolari better than Fangio better than Clark better than Senna better than Schumacher, etc not to mention Moss, Stewart, Lauda and Prost in there. However, based on their strike rates of wins against starts when there were only 6 or 7 Grand Prix per season as opposed to the more recent 17 or 18 per season there is no doubt that Fangio and Clark take some beating.
Oh, and I am sure that the Graham Hill programme, based on the humour of the man will be very amusing but with regard to the level of his natural driving talent, double World Champion as he was, sorry he is not even in the same league as Moss or Clark both of whom he raced against at different ends of his career.
See you around

Dave,
I think you are very unkind to mis spell Murk Shiers name.
Who was/is the greatest of all time? Not an argument worth getting into, as some once said; "Fangio won five Championships in four different cars against two generation of drivers."
Clark won two titles against limited, opposition. I agree that Graham was never in the same category as Jimmy, he was a great driver, but no genius, which in my opinion makes his achievements all the more laudable. What came easy to JC, GH had to work hard for.
........but then of course there is Jenson Button ..............................!
