And how welcome we were, many thanks to all the usual crowd, great to see so many friends.
Pictures now available on the usual site.
Next week it's the Walter Hayes Trophy, so I do not expect to see any Morgans, but once that is out of the way I can concentrate on the Panto!!

And many thanks for the terrific hospitality (as usual). Definitely the most popular pit by far.

Thanks to Jim for posting the results
I would just like to thank everyone involved with both teams for a very enjoyable day
The catering was great, the pit crews fantastic and the race rather interesting
Our team suffered when Sharlie was removed by a low flying "Radical" during practice
But great work by Chas,Pete Mulberry and i think Billy Bellinger got the steering fixed and Sharlie (or Bob) did her required track time for the team
But after 3 hours we were toward the bottom of the time sheets but then a good stint by Ray (even in the wet) and then a wonderful session by Keith promoted us up the leader board
However without the safety car in the last 20 minutes Keith would have expired due to running out of fuel and we would have needed the mighty Tim to go out again
But saved by the safety car Keith was able to be just ahead of Simon OG,while Tim sat snug in his car in the pits
John Bevan also enjoyed his first Birkett, having camped overnight, driven in the race he then drove home perhaps a little slower than normal as his engine does seems to have lost some power in the last few weeks (or since MG Live)
Overall the race was well run by 750MC with 63 teams, although at the start there was a big pile up which removed 5 or more cars and caused a red flag
Thus the race started(again) at 11.45 for 6 hours and finished almost in the dark
Finally it was great to have so many visitors attracted by the wonderful cakes etc

Do we take it Chris, that you sampled the hospitality on offer elsewhere?
I do hope that Kate/Katy don't read this section, they would be upset!!

Certainly not. In fact I scarcely moved from the Morgan garage, and only then when they started pushing the cars about (they'll have to do something about the cars next year - there's just not enough room for serious eating and chatting with all the cars there too).
No, I was referring to how it attracted so many people, especially Marshalls - in fact there were so many orange boiler suits in there at times that it must have been a concern that the posts were sufficiently well manned.

Chris, I do believe you are an inspiration!!
Let's do away with the cars dashing around the circuit, and have a six hour relay feast. Each team has to consume a vast array of comestibles in the six hour period each team member taking his/her turn at the table acting in relays to demolish the sandwiches, pies cakes etc.. The winning team would be the one that had put on the most weight during the contest, or who emptied the table in the shortest time.
I am already putting together a list of possible team members for next year's inaugural event. I rule you out as a very lightweight contender and also Sharlie, as seeing her in her 'girlie racing suit' made me realise she would be a severe handicap to any team. (far too trim).
I am anxiously endeavouring to get Barry's signature on a contract, and Tim Ayres looks like a possible asset despite ..... you know what I mean.
Looking at the drivers from this year's race I do not think that there are too many who would be suitable for the new event, so it is amongst the mechanics that I expect to find the right types for a winning team.
Now for a suitable name for my team .............................
Bob.

You may not be aware that at the annual drivers meeting there are votes on tech matters. There have only ever been one really contentious vote. It was whether the car weight limits should be set without drivers (thus giving an advantage to the Chris Acklams) or set with drivers in the car – so that heavy drivers could remove more weight from their car.
I am in between although perhaps benefit from ‘lighter bones’ as compared to certain of the West Country ex rugby playing fraternity and in the end I was ‘persuaded’ to their cause and we now weigh cars including driver. So drivers can happily eat as much as they like.

"So drivers can happily eat as much as they like."
Not before the start of the competition they can't. I want my lads lean and hungry for the off!
I expect that the annual MSCC nosh-up might give a guide as to form, also the highly secretive Plus 4 Lunch Club!! While the timing and venue have been secretive to say the least, I have spies operating in the area of the Leathern Bottle, just in case.
All that remains now is to convince the 750 MC of the need to change the format of the Birkett.
Many thanks for your, as ever, valued insight.
Bob.
