TT Rep 'CAB 652'
CAB 652 was Peter Morgan's 'racer' and appeared in trials and races including Goodwood (see thread). It is one of the few pukka TT Reps acknowledged by all and sundry. It is well documented by Ken Hill and Jake Alderson/Chris Chapman. The link to the history of CAB 652 I found years ago wasn't working. I went looking this afternoon and found that CAB 652 is FOR SALE !

There is also a pdf though not the article that I remembered.
It would be nice if someone could bring CAB back to the UK......and race her again!

John
In early December I saw an oil painting of this car in a Bonhams auction and wondered about it's significance! Thanks for enlightening me.

Re: TT Rep 'CAB 652'
Since my first posting, CAB 652 has been sold and is returning to the UK (so says the listing). This is really exciting news and hopefully we can all meet up to greet the car back to our shores.
Er hem.....Catherine - are you up for organising something? (not trying to give the game away)

Not that I would know but "allegedly" CAB now back in the UK and residing at Melvyn's emporium (he is still drying his eyes after shedding a tear on being reacquainted after 31 years) so, all are welcome to go and view her there. Shame that I'll be away for the Brooklands meeting in June as I expect Charles Morgan might have liked to have been reacquainted too!!

That's great John - what's she like? - do you have much work to do? - when are you expecting her back to Herts? - perhaps post some UK photos
Shame about Brooklands - anything planned?

Re: TT Rep 'CAB 652'
There has been very little activity about Series 1 for quite a while. Whilst sorting out mountains of notes on Series 1, I came across these photos of CAB taken by Ali Lugo, I guess, during the '70s.
As you can see, CAB was going through her 'white' phase
with a rather nice red interior
Nice to see the engine - very few people take engine pictures. Certainly not a Climax engine here - I guess its a Standard Special?
Hope you like these photos John

Dear John,
I told John you had posted these photos and he asked me to thank you. I don't think he has seen them yet because he tells me he hasn't had time to look in on Brakehorsepower for weeks because of pressure of work. (Hence my replying to you in my new capacity as his "person who passes on messages")!
John has managed to acquire a number of old pictures of CAB mainly through Melvin, but I'm not sure he has any yet of her during her 'white' phase so thank you.
Best wishes,
Catherine

Re: TT Rep 'CAB 652'
You are welcome to the original "white" photos Catherine. In the mean time, here is a shot of CAB from Peter's first race at the Donington Park Meeting on 1 July 1939. I can't remember who sent me this one. It is similar to the shot taken in Jake & Chris's book but at a different point around the track.
I like the safety equipment of the day - I'm sure Peter's shirt and tie will keep him safe!!!
What people might not realise, is that CAB was probably still red here though the b+w photo doesn't give the game away

My late father, Robert Couch, restored CAB 652 ca. 1979 for the late owner Jack Artley. John, you referenced his website (now expired) earlier in this thread. I had the pleasure of growing up around CAB 652 and many other Morgans in my father's shop. Here are several photos of the car throughout it's life here in the states.
CAB 652, as Dad found it, behind a pub in London. 1977. At the end of the "White Phase."
ca. 1979-1980. Restoration complete.
1980, Lime Rock Park, CT. Dad, with his sister Susan. Owner Jack Artley pictured on the left in the sweater-vest. Eddie Hausler, who painted CAB 652, is sitting directly behind Dad in the dark blue shirt.
Pictured behind Jack Artley is a rare 1956 4/4 4 seater, which was Dad's 2nd Morgan restoration, and is still owned by Spider Bulyk today.
CAB 652 won Best of Show at the inaugural Chinetti Invitational Concours at Lime Rock
1980, Lime Rock Park, CT. Dad, with CAB 652
2009, Watkins Glen. Dad, with CAB 652, 30 years later. They won again!
2009, Watkins Glen.
Dad wrote a short history of his beginnings in the world of Morgan and the restoration of CAB 652. It appears in the July 2010 issue of The Morganeer, pages 14-20. It is unfortunate that he never finished this short autobiography...

Thanks for posting the fantastic photos and links - the articles on your father capture the true spirit of Morgan ownership the world over.

I was recently going through some of dad's old photos and came across quite a few old photos of CAB 652 as he found it in London, and during restoration. Thought you lads would enjoy them
