I find it hard to believe that no one has found anything interesting to post on this thread since April. Maybe it is time to remove the whole topic and put something more interesting in to fill the space, perhaps a place to discuss the merits of various tennis rackets?

No doubt all of the Series 1 types are busy sharpening their quill pens, and getting out the paint brushes.

A few questions that I am sure many here can answer for me, to throw a little light on to an unenlightened mind, and further man's knowledge of exotic motor cars;

How many Series 1 Morgans were produced?

How many remain extant in 2014?

What engine(s) were fitted by the factory?

Was any level of sporting success achieved?

When was production started and when did it finish?

Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Question 3 -
Roughly speaking, from 1936 - 1939 (more to follow)
Ford 10Hp (Model C - C-prefix) Qty: 3 off
Coventry Climax 10Hp Qty: lots (2 types)
Climax 1500cc* EXPM 3MC Qty: 1
Ford 22Hp V8 later supercharged Standard sv 8Hp (same car) Qty: 1
Triumph G12 engine Qty: 1 (possibly more, used in works cars)
Standard Flying 10 (10AL type) Qty: 1
Standard Special ohv Qty: lots
Standard 12Hp Qty: 1
I have not included the chassis fitted with a Scott 2 stroke 3SM engine, as it was installed externally to the factory.
* this may have been the same design as the 1500cc engine as supplied to the Vale Motor Company (from memory, there could be as few as 4 of these engines made)

I,ve got a 1200 pre Xflow Ford in one of mine with a 28/36 DCD Fitted ( ex. Mary Linsay HG)

Many thanks to all who have contributed to my knowledge and understanding of a much loved motor car, I always knew there must be more to 'Series 1's' than meets the eye.

I wonder why there was such a wide variety of motive power fitted?

Was this due to owner choice, or difficulties in supply.

I will post a link to a web site that might well be of interest to all Morgan owners, in the Loose Torque forum.

Mary Its still got the scutes tag tied to the steering column... brown paper label with eyelet and string
that tags 40 odd years old

Here I am trying to expand my knowledge of Series 1 Morgans, and the plethora of technical wizardry that it entails, and the best that Bellinger Series 100, can come up with is a tale of brown paper and string.


Come on Jack! What colour ink was used on this item of great historical interest?

Quite right Jack, to remove the historic document would be sacrilege, long may it wave in the breeze. I have the ticket stub from my grandstand seat at Le Mans in 1955 carefully preserved. 60 years next June!

Tell me more about the history of your Series 1 cars.
