Re: Web site updates 2017

Hi Bob I have posted a race report of sorts in the Morgan Challenge private section... maybe that will keep you going until Michelle's official report arrives... Mary Any idea who won the handicap? I have never understood how it was calculated so the winner is always to a surprise!!! And if you need...

Brooklands talk on Prudence Fawcett's Racing Exploits

Just spotted on the Brooklands website... thought I should pass on... :) "Prudence Fawcett's Racing Exploits" Date July 13, 2017 "The daughter of a solicitor Prudence Fawcett, at the age of 25 and with very little previous racing experience, entered the 1938 Le Mans 24 hour race in a ...

Re: The Gilbert

Before I was born (but only just!) my namesake had his only hit record peak at no 37 in the 1964 UK chart (poptastic music lovers!) with 'Move It Baby' :). As well as nearly having a hit record he was also nearly managed by Brian Epstein but did appear on the same bill as the Rolling Stones ...

Re: Pomeroy 2017

Can anyone look at their programme or entry lists and tell me who was driving and what was car no 75? And where from? :?:
I followed it all the way back through Northampton post-Pom on Saturday so whoever it is must live near me! :)

Re: Autosport quiz?

Bravo Bob - Castellotti was the missing name. =D> =D> =D> Being a sad so-and-so, I also came up with Teo Fabi who I could remember getting a couple of poles in the turbo era and couldn't believe he hadn't led a race as well. He had - albeit for just a few seconds. During the 1986 Austrian GP on the ...

Re: Autosport quiz?

This is so exciting... answers flooding in !!! Bob - with Amon, Heidfeld and Lewis Evans already given away by your "commendable but baffling" quizmaster, you have scored 3 + 5 = 8. =D> Jarier, Giacomelli, De Cesaris, Parkes, Pryce - all correct, but Revson won both the British and ...

Re: Autosport quiz?

As no answers have been forthcoming :( , maybe if I give you the names of two more drivers who have been on pole, led a race and been on a podium - but have never actually won a race... one from the recent past is Nick Heidfeld and one from a more dim and distant would be Stuart Lewis Evans. Does th...

Re: Autosport quiz?

As someone who keeps finishing second behind Tim Parsons, "Losers" sounds a bit harsh! But yes, you are looking for drivers who have finished second or third. .. who have in their careers notched up at least one pole position and have also led a race. Chris Amon was the most notable exampl...

Re: Autosport quiz?

But - like Chris Amon - we are looking for people who never actually won a championship grand prix. So the people you are looking for are those who have led a race, had a pole position and finished on a podium. .. Does that help?
