Re: Le Mans Legend 11-13 June 2009

Yes, Techniques are amazing!! Although starting to make a bit of a habit of this overnight engine rebuilding I feel……………………… =D> Everyone was really glum on Thurs eve when RU dropped a valve seating & destroyed the valve but fortunately it didn’t completely wreck the piston. However, Chris Conol...

Re: 15" x 4.5" Wire Wheels with Dunlop L section race tyres

Mark, I think you're right as I have an entry in for this 'Pre-'63 GT' event and was told 5", 60 spoke wheels would be acceptable. Don't currently have any of these myself yet either! RU now off on it's summer vacation in the back of Keith & Billy's van on its way to what looks like being a...

Re: Centenary Race - the Tucker Trophy

Leigh, Could we agree that competitors in the Morgan Centenary Race have to eat the cake before the race? I'm looking for any advantage to get the Tucker car near the front..........especially if it rains & I'm on Dunlops (excuse 37(ii) from the historic drivers excuse book)!! Sadly we will have...

Re: GT3

Just returned form Silverstone where Catherine & I lucky enough to witness this fantastic event with Charles Morgan in BRDC! Huge groans when Audi R8 overtook Morgan for 1st place with commentator saying "modern technology outstrips the old" and then huge cheers when Audi went out with...

Re: Where are they Now?

Not sure about Tucker/Kendall :-k Andy[/quote] Andy, I've spoken to the expert on Jim Tucker, Guy Loveridge, who says that this confusion often arises as Jim was 3rd reserve at the Guards 1000. Guy said he's planning to share Jim's results with me at Brands Hatch when we're there for the Tucker Memo...

Re: Centenary Race - the Tucker Trophy

Mary,

It would be an honour & a privilege to race with Club Red in RU. However, surely the "handicapping" system would have to make sure the actual Tucker car won..............I'd say I probably would need about a 3 lap headstart

Re: Centenary Race - the Tucker Trophy

Bob,
Maybe I could tell the "Team Manager" one of your jokes which seem to be gradually wearing Mary down into ranking you alongside Jack in her affections or resort to the old bottle of champagne ruse you taught me............

Re: Centenary Race - the Tucker Trophy

That's going to get me in trouble at home as I guess it's almost compulsory for my ex-Tucker car to participate but it also happens to be Catherine's birthday which I promised to keep free & we're supposed to be at Castle Combe on the Monday for the Morgan Challenge.................... #-o

Re: FIA Papers

The '62 homologation is also for a 1991cc engine as TOK of course ran at Le Mans in the under 2 litre class, but it also raises the option of the 2138cc engine. I can only assume that Period E restricts Morgans to under 2 litres???? I think Jim Lowry explained to me that if you ever wanted to be el...

Re: FIA Papers

When I bought RU it had its original FIA papers but of course I had to get the now required HTP papers for current eligibility to FIA events. I must say that Jim Lowry (of Equipe GTS) was very helpful to me in this process (he is one of the MSA scrutineers that one may elect to use to complete the M...

Re: Where are they Now?

As the proud owner of Jim Tucker's +4 (8334 RU) I'm told that Jim & Brian Kendall came 13th in the 1965 Guards Thousand and may have been the first Morgan home. In 1966 Jim shared RU with Charles Blyth and were 10th in the Ilford 500 behind Brian & Andy Pugh.
